Pictures of Halifax

Brought to you by the second most recognized logo world wide, the blue oval.

Didn't pick the clearest photos to upload

My long walk to work

I’ve stayed at the Halifax Airport Hotel for about a month if you total all my sleeps there. Would have been longer but ADESA Halifax used to be located in Halifax, go figure!! Locally there’s the airport, some gas stations, a Tim Horton’s (too far to walk in the opposite direction of the auction) a racetrack, my home away from home the Airport Hotel and the auto auction. Once we broke through the clouds on Tue a Calgary couple sitting next to the window turned to me and said where’s Halifax. All you see is trees for miles, the auction and then the airport. Halifax is about a half hours drive away.

I’ve driven this route enough times but estimated the walk to be about 10 minutes. It was closer to 20 minutes at a brisk pace. The weather was cold and windy, not a good combination in the middle of Enfield Buttfuck Nowhere, N.S.

For all the times I’ve been to Halifax I’ve never seen this racetrack open, or the pool at the hotel.

My view from the hotel

This little guy is Izak. He’s not that little for 18 months old. John Elms (formerly VanSickle) invited me over to his new place for dinner. John and I worked together here in Ontario at Campbell’s. He took a promotion as Calgary’s site manager but recently relocated to Halifax with the new and improved Campbell’s, Accessories In Motion. I also know his girlfriend Marla because she worked for Campbell’s as well. AIM still completes Chryslers for export to the US and right now ADESA Halifax is adding more Chryslers than Calgary. The decision to move across the country was made easier because John only owned his house in Calgary for 18 months but still made a tidy $80,000 after costs. There were $200,000 doublewide motor homes in the Alberta real estate magazines when I was there. Even though he didn’t have much furniture he invited me over to sit on the floor for a roast beef dinner wed night. I bought a bottle a wine and expensed it as my meal. When I snapped this picture Izak still hadn’t warmed up to me yet but luckily that changed. It was nice having a good home cooked meal away from home. John also made Yorkshire Pudding but forgot about it during the meal. We ate it later with a spoonful of jam in the middle, as desert .

The auction

Again not a great picture but, that’s the computer used to reprogram the mph odometers. The screen turns around and folds down on itself so you can use the touch screen option. It’s the same Tough Book laptops that are mounted in cop cars.

Oh yea and sweet sweet Heather
